Say goodbye to oldguysbooks and hello to O.L.D. Books

This should be my last posting as oldguysbooks. I am in the process of converting my bookseller name to O.L.D. Books and plan to start a new blog there soon. My few followers will recall that some time ago I anounced that I would be changing the name to reflect the more serious nature of bookselling. That time has come. A new logo will be introduced with the new blog once it is ready within a few weeks.

Re-pricing project complete

Tomorrow I will finish my re-pricing project. Quite a few prices have remained the same. Some have increased (as previously mentioned my books previously priced at $5.00 are now $6.25), and more than I anticipated are now priced lower. With this pricing update I also included pictures of as many books as I could easily find online. Some I will have to scan so that I can make them featured books on my biblio.com page. Remember: On my biblio.com page: http://www.biblio.com/bookstore/oldguysbooks-hurlock there are 10% and 20% off coupons to apply to your purchase of any of my books. As long as the order meets the minimum dollar amount the coupon is valid. Come, check out my holdings, and buy a book or two...or three. You know you want to.

Featured Books on Biblio.com

A new feature I have started to take advantage of on Biblio.com is the Featured Books that I can select from my inventory and have pictured on my biblio.com seller's page. These books have prices of $50 and higher, but that price is not locked in. If a book meets certain qualifying criteria I have activated the "make an offer" function in which you can literally mnake me an offer for the book. I have set a minimal price that I will accept and will be notified if the offer meets of exceeds that price threshold. If I agree to your price then your order will go through.

For books that do not meet that criteria, you can always negotiate with me dirrectly.

Price changes underway

I have begun making my annual price adjustments. While a good many of my prices will be unchanged quite a few will be either raised or lowered. Some by a little, others by a lot depending on how the market is for a particular title. It is never easy to predict the used book market, particularly in this econmy. Already with the few books I have already reviewed for repricing several have had the bottom fall out. Keep checking my catalog to see the new pricing. Last year it took me about a month to make all the repricing changes. I expect it to take just as long again this year.

Just a reminder: All books presently listed at $5.00 will soon be at least $6.25. If there is a $5.00 book you have been thinking about buying order it now before I change the price.

Free Books Contest

As followers of this blog are aware I have been considering an umbrella name that I could place all my used book enterprises under. This includes book selling, book finding, and everything else that I can do in the worlld of used books. As I was walking into town this morning it came to me:

O.L.D. Books

Now all I need to do is come up with a logo. As anyone who knows me personally is aware, I have a negative amount of graphics talent. The solution that I came up with is to have a logo design challenge. The person with the winning design will receive $50 worth of books FREE.

This contest is open woldwide. All designs are to be orginal work and not be hired-out or pirated designs. I will be the sole design judge and my decision will be final. The deadline to submit your designs is May 31, 2012. The winning logo will be announced during June 2012. Multiple logo designs can be submitted by each contestant throughout the running of this contest.

TWO WEEKS LEFT
